Erdogan Reports on Number of People Rescued After Devastating Earthquake in Turkey
Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced today that more than 114,000 people have been rescued following one of the most powerful earthquakes in the region in recent years. This information was reported by Interfax.
In particular, according to Anadolu, 114,834 people were rescued in the earthquake-affected area, where the epicenter was located in Kahramanmaras.
As a result of the earthquakes, 118,000 residential buildings have been destroyed or are at risk of collapse.
The Turkish leader also noted that temporary shelter has been provided for 1,684,000 residents in the disaster zone.
On the night of February 6, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey, followed by a series of aftershocks, one of which measured 7.6 in magnitude. These tremors have caused significant destruction and casualties in the country as well as in neighboring Syria.
