Arayik Harutyunyan Makes a Statement
Arazhak President Arayik Harutyunyan writes on his Facebook page:
“Dear compatriots, one of the most important imperatives facing the Republic of Artsakh since November 9, 2020, has been the assurance of internal solidarity and unity in order to overcome the problems that have arisen in the country with dignity and without interruption. Nevertheless, the discontent formed among the public and the atmosphere of distrust towards each other continue to persist, which compels the authorities to take additional steps towards ensuring the stability of internal life in Artsakh and lasting peace.
We must acknowledge that in the situation created in Artsakh after the 44-day war, the state bodies established based on the Constitution and laws of the Republic do not fully reflect public sentiments; in some cases, they lack the necessary level of trust, which often gives rise to waves of objective and subjective discontent, leading to outbursts and internal shocks in the conditions of today’s uncertainties and constantly evolving events.
In recent days, I have held numerous meetings, during which I presented the situation in the country, the internal and external dangers and challenges. Yesterday I responded to the proposal of public sector representatives, met with them, and held a constructive discussion during which I highly appreciated the responsibility and readiness for uncompromising struggle demonstrated by the attendees concerning the future of Artsakh.
By listening to the concerns and issues presented, I accepted the demand-proposal to establish an advisory body to the President composed of representatives from different regions of the Republic of Artsakh, which should serve as a platform for discussing issues related to the country’s internal and external policies and have the key and significant right to provide consultations and make proposals. I am ready to start working on the implementation of this idea in the near future.
Dear compatriots, I will address this and other issues in a message on February 23, during which I will elaborate more on the internal and external dangers, challenges, and our further steps regarding the situation surrounding Artsakh.”
