Russian Ministry of Defense on the Restoration of Traffic Through the Lachin Corridor

The Russian peacekeeping force continues to fulfill its assigned tasks in Nagorno-Karabakh. This was stated in a report released by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

It was mentioned that the Russian peacekeepers are conducting round-the-clock monitoring at 30 observation posts and overseeing the maintenance of the ceasefire regime.

"The command of the group is continuing negotiations with both the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides regarding the restoration of traffic along the Stepanakert-Goris road," the report states.

According to the statement, since November 23, 2020, the engineer-sapper units of the Russian peacekeeping force have cleared a total area of 2508.3 hectares, as well as 689.5 kilometers of road and 1940 buildings from mines and unexploded ordnance. A total of 26,762 explosive hazards have been identified and neutralized.

It was noted that to ensure the safety of Russian peacekeepers and to prevent potential incidents, continuous cooperation is maintained with the general staffs of the armed forces of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
