China Lacks Transparency on Nuclear Arsenal, Says US State Department Official
The Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Bonnie Jenkins, has stated that China's nuclear arsenal is a concern for the United States. This information has been reported by РИА Новости.
“China is developing its military and nuclear capabilities, and this is troubling. We do not see transparency regarding this process,” she said.
Earlier, Jenkins had mentioned that Washington is highly interested in resuming negotiations with Russia regarding the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, as well as continuing mutual inspections of strategic facilities.
On February 9, US President Joe Biden assessed relations with China following the ‘spy balloon’ incident. He noted that they did not sustain serious damages after the incident. He added that he did not have the opportunity to speak personally with his Chinese counterpart during the recent balloon episode.
