Snow, Fog, Closed Roads: Situation in the Republic

The Rescue Service reports that there are closed and difficult-to-navigate roads within the territory of Armenia.

The roads from the "Amberd" high mountainous meteorological station in the Aragatsotn region to the Amberd fortress and Lake Kari are closed. The Vardenyats mountain pass is closed for vehicles with trailers.

The section of the Gyumri-Yerevan highway at Lanjik and the section of the Horum-Artik road at Horum are difficult to navigate. The turns of Spitak and Stepanavan, as well as the Vanadzor-Dilijan highway, are difficult for trucks.

There is black ice in places on the roads in the Aragatsotn and Lori regions and on the Goris-Sisian road.

Snow is falling in the Vardenyats mountain pass, as well as in the cities of Jambarak, Kapan, Sisian, Kajaran, Noyemberyan, and Ijevan, while fog is present in the city of Goris.

According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is closed for trucks.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
