Positive Dynamics in the Health of Soldier in Extremely Serious Condition, Says MoD Spokesperson

On January 29, according to preliminary data, a soldier from the Ministry of Defense’s N military unit, A.A., sustained a gunshot wound due to a violation of weapon usage rules. In an interview with NEWS.am, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, Aram Torosyan, stated that there is positive dynamics in the soldier's health condition.

He noted that the soldier's health is assessed as extremely serious yet stable.

We previously reported that the soldier was transferred to the Yerevan Military Central Hospital and underwent open surgery.

According to the Investigative Committee, on January 29 at 5:00 PM, a report was received from the Kapan division of the Ministry of Defense stating that on the same day around 3:00 PM, the assistant commander of the combat post of the N military unit, a conscript soldier, while unloading an AK-74 type firearm assigned to fellow conscript soldier A.A., accidentally discharged a shot. As a result, A.A. received a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to a medical facility.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 532, part 2, point 1 of the RA Criminal Code (violation of rules regarding the handling of weapons, military equipment, or other items that pose a greater danger to the environment). The assistant commander of the combat post has been charged.
