Turkish Footballer Calls for Punishment for Those Increasing Prices Fivefold in Grief-Stricken Country

Chaglar Soyuncu, a player for England’s Leicester City and the Turkish national team, has commented on the crisis situation in his homeland. Following the earthquake on February 6, a rise in the prices of goods has been observed in Turkey.

“While the entire country is in mourning, with thousands of people trapped under rubble and rescue operations ongoing, we read and see indifferent individuals attempting to loot and inflate prices. Those who raise prices fivefold in a grieving country should be punished. We cannot ignore all of this and let it go unpunished,” the footballer was quoted by the Turkish media outlet Fanatik.

The 26-year-old defender transferred to Leicester City from Germany’s Freiburg in 2018.
