There are collapses in Armenian neighborhoods in Syria: Armenians hospitalized, unofficial

Auroranews recently contacted one of our compatriots living in the city of Aleppo, Syria, to understand if there are Armenians among the victims of the earthquake that occurred last night.

“There are collapses in several Armenian neighborhoods, and we know that there are Armenians among the hospitalized,” our interlocutor noted.

When asked if they could provide videos or additional information from the site, they mentioned that there is almost no communication in the area.

It is reported that the earthquake in northern Syria has resulted in more than 200 fatalities and over 600 injuries. According to the SANA agency, citing the country's health ministry, “the number of fatalities from the earthquake has reached 237, and the number of injured is 639, the majority of whom are in Latakia, Aleppo, Hama, and Tartus.”

Given the large number of Armenians in both Turkey and Syria, Auroranews attempted to clarify what information the Armenian Foreign Ministry currently has regarding them. We were informed that the Foreign Ministry is in contact with the consulates of those countries and will publish accurate information as soon as it is available.
