By Closing the Lachin Corridor, Azerbaijan is Trying to Solve Specific Military Issues: Military Expert

Military expert Haik Nahapetyan assessed that by closing the Lachin corridor, Azerbaijan is attempting to address specific military objectives.

Nahapetyan expressed this view during parliamentary hearings related to the draft statement submitted by the Armenia faction regarding the closure of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan. He noted that the blockade of the Berdzor corridor is an element of Azerbaijan's conduct of war. Generally, blockades of territories serve military rather than political purposes.

“The primary purpose is that if large-scale military operations begin in Artsakh, assistance cannot reach them from Armenia, regardless of whether it is the government or volunteers. Second, they are eliminating the resources for our compatriots in Artsakh to live. Third, they exert a significant psychological impact on people, making them believe that after the start of a war or military action, victory will come very quickly. The closure of the Berdzor corridor is not a humanitarian or security issue. Azerbaijan is solving a specific military problem,” the military expert stated.
