Ukraine Will Be Held Accountable for American Financial and Military Aid
The Pentagon, State Department, and USAID have warned Ukraine that Kyiv will be held accountable for American financial and military assistance. This is reported by the Washington Post.
“Senior officials from Defense, the State Department, and USAID have just completed a trip to Ukraine, delivering a kind of warning regarding U.S. aid as Republicans seek to reduce support for Kyiv,” the article states.
It details that “during their visit last week, the chief inspectors from all three departments conveyed a message that can be summarized as follows: ‘Be prepared to be accountable for everything we provide you and continue the fight against corruption.’”
“The trip was an opportunity for us to communicate directly to the Ukrainian government the expectations of American taxpayers regarding transparency and accountability,” said Acting Inspector General of the State Department Diana Shaw in a joint statement from the three agencies after the visit.
