Dutch and German Land Forces to Unite
The process of integrating the land forces of the Netherlands and Germany is expected to be completed by the end of April. This comes amid rising security threats in the region following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as stated by Major Mark van de Beek, a representative of the royal armed forces.
Currently, two of the three land brigades of the Dutch army are combined with the Bundeswehr. The remaining 13th brigade is set to merge with the German army's 10th armored division.
Once the unification of all units is complete, the total personnel is expected to reach approximately 50,000, including 8,000 soldiers from the Netherlands.
The Netherlands and Germany are also considering joint purchases of military equipment and aligning military regulations, Van de Beek reported. However, he emphasized that the final decision must be made by the government, and the matter is currently under discussion.
