Regulation of Weapons Supply to the Prime Minister and President of Armenia
A draft proposed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Armenia has been published on the unified website for the publication of legal acts.
According to current legislation (the Law on Regulation of the Circulation of Weapons, adopted in 2022), individuals under state protection may receive specific types of service weapons after obtaining the necessary permission from the police. The police will provide weapons and ammunition based on a request from these individuals. The weapons and ammunition must be returned to the police within three days after the termination of the state protected individual’s authorities.
Additionally, legal entities may also temporarily receive weapons for the fulfillment of certain obligations, including weapon production and storage, protection of special objects and funds, extraction and storage of precious metals, and transportation of dangerous and confidential goods.
It is noteworthy that state protection is provided to the Speaker of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister, and the President of Armenia. Weapons may also be supplied to other officials, as well as public, political, religious, and other figures through the Prime Minister’s decree.
