Video: After 50 Days of Separation, Grandchild Did Not Recognize Grandmother; Armenians from Artsakh Returned to Stepanakert

A new group of Armenians from Artsakh has returned to their homeland from Armenia with the assistance and support of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), this time comprising 17 individuals. After nearly 50 days of separation, they have reunited with their families.

Artsakh resident Zina Sargsyan recounts: “I have health problems, and I went for regular check-ups, but the road was closed the next day. We stayed in Yerevan for 50 days and then spent four days in Goris. After that, we called and registered with the Red Cross. Two days ago, we received a call informing us that we needed to go to Goris and get to Artsakh through the ICRC.” After the 50-day separation, her young grandchild had difficulty recognizing her at first but clung to her once he did.

Another returnee, Armine Hovsepyan, was also part of the group. Before the blockade, she had traveled to Yerevan with her husband, leaving their daughter in the care of the grandmother for all this time. Her husband is still in Yerevan, and Armine hopes he will return to Artsakh soon. “We arrived very well; it took about two hours from Goris. We stopped at the checkpoints. We are grateful to the ICRC for helping us reach our families,” she stated.

It is noteworthy that since January 20, with the support of the ICRC, 59 individuals from Artsakh have reunited with their families.
