Operation of Malatia Market to Cease Starting Tomorrow, Says Ministry

On February 1, the operation of the Malatia market will cease. If there are obstacles, the Ministry of Urban Development, Fire Safety, and Technical Security will seek assistance from partner law enforcement agencies to ensure the process runs smoothly.

This information was shared with Sputnik Armenia by the Ministry's spokesperson, Elena Zohrebyan.

It is worth noting that the Ministry has decided to suspend the Malatia market's operations because the operator failed to eliminate several of the 17 recorded violations. Currently, there are approximately 550 stalls at the market.

“On January 18, we informed the operator about this decision, that the market's operation would cease on February 1, and provided time for them to address the issue of relocating the goods available at the market,” Zohrebyan stated.

In response to reports that the Gnuni market will close after the Malatia market, Zohrebyan said that they did not provide any specific names to the media outlet spreading this information. “A check was carried out at the Gnuni market in 2021, and instructions were issued. Theoretically, I cannot say which market will be checked next,” she added.
