A Group of Individuals Preparing Diversions in Iran Arrested

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran has arrested members of an anti-government group that was preparing diversions in the country, according to RIA Novosti, citing the Iranian Tasnim agency.

"The unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has called on the main intelligence department of Iran's Central Province to detain members of the counter-revolutionary group who attempted to acquire weapons to carry out terrorist acts under the guidance of foreign agents," the statement said.

The report indicates that members of this group had planned a series of operations to destabilize the situation in Iran, including a goal to disrupt internet connectivity and electronic surveillance devices.

The agency reported that five main members have been arrested and handed over to the judicial system. Two other agents of the group have fled and are currently on the run.
