Tigran Arzakantsyan Reports Death Threats Over Debts

A 57-year-old resident of Yerevan, Tigran Arzakantsyan, has reported to the police that he received death threats demanding repayment of his outstanding debts. This was reported by Shamshyan.com.

According to the report, Arzakantsyan arrived in Armenia from Paris with his wife, where a familiar, A. Ikonov, approached him on the plane and inquired when he intended to repay debts that had been overdue for years.

Sources indicate that T. Arzakantsyan drove to the Police Department at Zvartnots International Airport in a bulletproof Range Rover, where he submitted a complaint about the incident in writing to the police. Officers approached A. Ikonov at the airport and invited him to the line division, where he was held for several hours before being transferred to the investigative division at Zvartnots Airport. Following a decision by the investigator, A. Ikonov was released.

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated a criminal case in Yerevan regarding the threat of murder against 57-year-old Artashes Ikonov, a citizen of the Russian Federation. Reports indicate that a confrontation is set to take place in the next 1-2 days between T. Arzakantsyan, his wife N. Arzakantsyan, and A. Ikonov.

Police and investigators have established that A. Ikonov is a member of the board of Global Digital Finance LLC. According to G. Shamshyan's sources, law enforcement officials have suspicions that T. Arzakantsyan is not only linked to unusual property dealings but indeed owes a significant amount to A. Ikonov, and that no actual death threats had taken place.
