Radioactive Capsule Falls from Truck During Transport in Australia
During the transfer from the Newman mine to a warehouse in Perth, Western Australia, the mining company Rio Tinto lost a capsule containing radioactive material. This was reported by ABC News.
The capsule contains a radioactive isotope, prolonged exposure to which can cause burns, acute radiation sickness, and cancer. Notably, the capsule's disappearance was only noticed nine days after the incident.
State authorities have advised locals to maintain a distance of at least 4.87 meters if they come across the container.
