No political faction in the National Assembly of Armenia has yet nominated a candidate for the position of Human Rights Defender.

This information was shared by the Chair of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan, in a Facebook post.

The National Assembly staff has informed all factions about the legal procedures and deadlines for nominating one candidate each for the position of Human Rights Defender, as stipulated by the "Regulations of the National Assembly" of the constitutional law. According to this law, candidates can be nominated within ten days after the Human Rights Defender's position becomes vacant.

As the Chair of the Standing Committee on Protection of Human Rights and Public Affairs, I inform you that, at this moment, no faction has nominated a candidate for the Human Rights Defender position,” Tovmasyan stated.
