Bus Carrying Football Players Falls from Bridge in Brazil: Casualties Reported
A bus carrying a Brazilian football team has fallen from a bridge, resulting in the deaths of four individuals, according to CNN Brasil.
The tragedy occurred near the city of Alen Paraiba in the state of Minas Gerais, on the BR-116, the longest federal highway in Brazil that connects the northeast and south of the country. The bus plunged from a bridge approximately 10 meters high.
Onboard were 28 players from the "Esporte Clube Vila Maria Helena" youth team from Rio de Janeiro, along with four coaches and the driver. The players were returning from an amateur tournament where they had won the under-18 category and reached the finals in the under-16 category the day before.
Among the deceased are three teenagers aged 14 to 17 and one adult, while an additional 28 individuals have been hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries.
