Scholz Comments on Investigation of Explosions in Nord Stream Gas Pipeline

The investigation into the incident involving the Nord Stream gas pipeline is still ongoing, and speculations about the perpetrators can only be published in the presence of evidence. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

"The explosions occurred in the seas of Sweden and Denmark; the investigation is complex and still ongoing. In a constitutional country like Germany, officials must refrain from making assumptions and only state what they can prove. When we can confidently say something, we will," Scholz told the German newspaper Tagesspiegel in an interview.

According to him, "speculations won't lead anywhere." He emphasized, "We must be faithful to the facts, especially in such troubling times. I can only remind you of the double missile strike on Poland in November, which resulted in the deaths of two civilians. There, too, we first investigated the incident and did not hastily place blame. It turned out that they were erroneous defensive missiles from Ukraine. However, we do not work with false accusations; we wait for the results of the investigation," the German Chancellor concluded, indicating that in his opinion, the responsibility for the missile situation in Poland lies with the Russian side.
