NATO Fully Involved in Confrontation with Russia, Says Zakharova

NATO is fully engaged in confrontation with Russia, and this involvement is developing upward, stated Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“Citizens of NATO member countries should know that their alliance is entirely drawn into confrontation with our country, and this involvement is growing at an upward pace,” Zakharova remarked, expressing disagreement with statements made by Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg.

It is noteworthy that Germany's Foreign Minister stated on January 24 during a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe that European countries are “waging war against Russia,” and she called on Western nations to continue supporting Ukraine. Baerbock emphasized, however, that providing military assistance to Ukraine does not mean that Germany is becoming a party to the conflict.

Earlier, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg had stated that the North Atlantic alliance is not a party to the conflict and does not intend to become one. In response from Moscow, declarations have been made indicating that military assistance to Ukraine from the West and NATO is considered direct involvement of those countries and the alliance in the conflict.
