Mirzoyan Meets Borrell to Discuss Armenian-Azerbaijani Relations
On January 25, during a working visit to Brussels, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan met with Josep Borrell, the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, according to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on issues of regional security and stability. Minister Mirzoyan praised the decision to deploy the EU’s civilian monitoring mission in Armenia.
Ararat Mirzoyan drew Borrell’s attention to the humanitarian crisis caused by Azerbaijan's illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor. It was emphasized that Azerbaijan must immediately lift the blockade in accordance with the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9. The Armenian side highlighted the importance of effective measures by the international community to prevent Azerbaijan's policies of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Armenian Foreign Minister and the EU High Representative discussed developments in the process of normalizing Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The normalization process between Armenia and Turkey was also addressed.
The meeting's agenda included issues related to the further development of Armenia-EU cooperation.
