Do You Want Me to Evaluate the Absurd Opinion Expressed? Kocharyan on Squad Commander's Statement
Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the National Assembly from the ruling Civil Contract party, addressed the statement made by a squad commander following the fire at a barrack in Gegharkunik Province, which resulted in the deaths of 15 servicemen. The commander claimed that "the weakening of the army is connected to 'chaos'".
“Do you want me to evaluate this absurd opinion? The authorities are doing everything possible to help our Armed Forces get back on their feet quickly after the war,” Kocharyan stated.
When discussing the causes of the fire, the parliament member recalled a theory proposed by the chair of the NA Standing Committee on Human Rights Protection and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan: “We even have a committee chair who commented that this was most likely the result of an enemy drone strike. For God’s sake! A drone strike has a completely different implication when there is no eyewitness and when there are surviving soldiers, including the captain, who have provided explanations,” emphasized Kocharyan.
