Video: Footage of Fire at the Armenian Church Residence in Istanbul; There Are Casualties
A fire broke out in the residential area of the Surp Prkich Armenian Church located in the Karakoy neighborhood of Istanbul's Beyoglu district, resulting in the death of two individuals. This information was reported by Sputnik Turkey.
The administrative head of the Beyoglu district, Mustafa Demirel, and the spiritual leader of Turkey's Armenian Catholic community, Levon Zekiyan, have arrived at the scene to gather information about the ongoing efforts.
In a conversation with reporters, Demirel stated that the causes of the fire are currently unknown. "After the outbreak of the fire, two of our citizens were evacuated by local forces, while two others were transported to the hospital with the help of firefighters. They suffered from smoke inhalation; however, their condition is assessed as stable," he mentioned. Demirel also noted that according to initial information from church attendants, there had been no news on two individuals who were later found deceased following the cooling operations.
