Lavrov Wants to Hand Over This Piece of Armenian Land to the Turks, Says Ruling Party MP
Defense Minister Suren Papikyan's recent discussions primarily revolved around the latest incidents that occurred in the Vardenis region. He responded by stating that the investigation will conclude, and everything will become clear after its completion. This was indicated by Gagik Melkonyan, a member of the 'Civil Contract' faction in the National Assembly, during an interview with 'A1+'.
According to Melkonyan, there are still certain questions that need clarification: 'There are murky things that the investigation needs to uncover. What was gasoline doing at the barracks that night, or why did the captain go to bring gasoline?'
Commenting on the European Union's decision to send a civilian mission to Armenia for two years, the MP replied, 'This means that for two years, we can focus on our country's economy and military development. We hope that Azerbaijan will not attack.'
When asked why Azerbaijan does not open the corridor even when urged by the official U.S. to do so, Melkonyan responded, 'Aliyev may not heed Russia's requests, but if he ignores the U.S.'s call, it will weigh heavily on him.'
Addressing issues in Armenian-Russian relations, the MP stated that Russia and the CSTO are not helping Armenia in any way, and that we need to cooperate with the West and create alternatives for ourselves: 'Lavrov also wants to hand over this piece of Armenian land to the Turks.'
