«I feel like I have been reborn»: Khachanov on victory and his form
Armenian tennis player Karen Khachanov, representing Russia, commented on reaching the semifinals of the Australian Open. Sebastian Korda withdrew from the match due to a wrist injury, during which Khachanov was already dominating his opponent.
“Of course, it’s fantastic to reach consecutive semifinals of two Grand Slam tournaments. Naturally, I didn’t want the match to end like this. Until a certain point, we were having a great fight. Sebastian defeated one of my friends, Daniel, in three sets. Hurkacz won in five sets. He is displaying excellent tennis; let’s applaud him. I feel great, and I am very satisfied with my level of play. I can’t wait for the first semifinal in Australia,” said Khachanov.
Khachanov also spoke about how he overcame a crisis after the 2018 season. “I always believed in myself, but there are negative aspects. Great results help build self-confidence. I feel like I have been reborn. It became stronger for me after the US Open. Then I reached the semifinals again. I hope to continue growing as an athlete and as a person,” he stated during an interview on the court after the match.
