The Attorney General Submits Request to Parliament for Criminal Prosecution of Armen Charchyan

The Attorney General of the Republic of Armenia, Anna Vardapetyan, submitted a request to the President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, on January 23, 2023, regarding the approval for criminal prosecution of the MP A. Ch. in accordance with the constitutional law on the 'Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly', Article 108, Clause 1.

As per the requirement of the same clause, a draft decision of the National Assembly on granting permission for criminal prosecution against the MP has also been attached to the request.

According to the factual data obtained during the criminal proceedings, A. Ch. was involved in a double commission of forensic examination appointed concerning the charges against A. S. for serious and particularly serious crimes. He signed a visibly falsified conclusion of the double forensic examination commission on February 8, 2017.

According to Article 96 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, criminal prosecution against an MP can only be initiated with the consent of the National Assembly.
