Rising Hospital Admissions in Artsakh Due to Seasonal Illnesses
The number of citizens seeking medical assistance in hospitals in Artsakh has increased due to seasonal acute respiratory illnesses and pneumonia. With the available resources, it is now possible to provide the necessary medical care to patients.
The reanimation department of the Republican Medical Center in Stepanakert is currently the only one of its kind in Artsakh. The significant influx of multi-profile patients is the reason for this. At present, there are 9 patients in the reanimation unit, with 5 in severe condition and 2 in extremely severe condition.
Chronic patients have deteriorated due to disruptions in gas supply and electricity outages, as their homes are not being heated and do not have the necessary conditions. It has also become difficult to procure the essential food for patients. Many have had to transfer their family members to hospitals instead of providing home care due to these issues. However, this also creates challenges for healthcare facilities.
Speaking about cases of transferring severely ill patients to Yerevan with the mediation of the Red Cross, Doctor Hayrapetyan welcomes their humanitarian efforts but emphasizes that, as a rule, they generally transport those patients whose transfer can be organized in a sitting position.
