Azerbaijan Partially Opens the Only Gas Pipeline from Armenia to Artsakh, but Pressure is Very Low

The Information Center of Artsakh has issued a statement saying, "Dear compatriots, the Azerbaijani side has partially opened the only gas pipeline from Armenia to Artsakh, but due to low pressure, gas supply to the Republic will be restored with certain limitations.

To ensure the uninterrupted operation of vital infrastructure and to meet the minimum needs of the population, the limited volume of supplied gas will be available for residential buildings in Stepanakert, regional gas stations, as well as for some strategically important facilities. We urge the population to be careful and adhere to safety rules when using gas."

It is noteworthy that Azerbaijan has once again disrupted the operation of the only gas pipeline supplying Artsakh from Armenia. On the morning of December 12, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes blocked the Stepanakert-Goris highway, which connects Artsakh to Armenia, under the pretext of environmental concerns. Starting from December 13, the Azerbaijani side also disconnected the gas supply to Artsakh. On the morning of December 16, the gas supply was restored. The gas supply was interrupted again and then restored within hours on January 17. From January 9, energy supply from Armenia to Artsakh has also been disconnected due to Azerbaijani control over the territory. The Azerbaijani side does not allow specialists to approach and understand the reasons, which are necessary for conducting emergency recovery work. Electricity supply in Artsakh is executed through rolling blackouts. The Lachin Corridor remains closed.
