Court Hearing on Vladimir Gasparyan and Levon Yeranosyan Postponed
The court hearing regarding former Chief of Police Vladimir Gasparyan and former Deputy Chief of Police Levon Yeranosyan was postponed at the Anti-Corruption Court.
Both accused were present at the session, which was presided over by Judge Vardges Sargsyan. Before postponing the session, the judge announced that Vladimir Gasparyan had terminated his attorney-client relationship with Hakob Manukyan and suggested that new attorneys be involved in the case. With the court's approval, attorneys Erik Aleksanyan and Aleksandr Kochubayev took up Gasparyan's defense.
“We have not had a chance to familiarize ourselves with the materials of the trial, so we request that the hearing be postponed for a reasonable period to allow us to review the materials,” Kochubayev said.
The judge decided to postpone the hearing, with the next court session scheduled for February 24 at 10 AM.
It should be noted that during the investigation of this multi-part criminal case being examined by the Specialized Investigation Service, instances of abuse of official power, official forgery, and the misappropriation of large sums of state funds by former high-ranking police officials, including Vladimir Gasparyan and Levon Yeranosyan, have been uncovered. As a result, the state has suffered approximately 114 million drams in damages.
Gasparyan has been charged under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1 of the Criminal Code (embezzlement or misappropriation) and Article 308, Part 2 (abuse of office). Levon Yeranosyan has been charged under Article 179, Part 3, Clause 1, Article 314, Part 1 (official forgery), and Article 308, Part 2 of the Criminal Code.
