VIDEO: Tense Situation in Firdus - What is Happening
A tense situation has arisen in the Firdus market since early this morning. Enforcement officers, accompanied by police, have arrived to dismantle warehouses located within the Firdus market area. Citizens present there are arguing with the police and enforcement officers.
Facebook user Gayane Soghbatyan shared a video on her social media page, stating: “Theft in broad daylight. Right now, the enforcement is doing its dirty work at our address, destroying our property by the order of the corrupt judge Murad Hovakimyan, which is currently being appealed. The government and the National Assembly are silent.”
Auroranews contacted the spokesperson for the Ministry of Justice's Enforcement Service, Varduhi Petrosyan, to understand what processes are taking place. “The enforcement officers are currently carrying out the judicial act to secure forensic examination at the area of Republic 8a,” said Petrosyan.
It should be noted that by the government's decision in 2006, the 33rd district, which includes Firdus and several adjacent neighborhoods, has been recognized as a public interest.
We also reached out to the press office of the Yerevan City Hall, where we were informed that the property owner at the specified address refuses to allow enforcement officers to enter their territory as required by the court for measurements to be taken.
The City Hall also clarified that the property owner verbally indicated, without an expert document, a sum of $3,000,000.
“Currently, the enforcement officers are fulfilling the court’s demand, which is to conduct a forensic examination in the area.”
