VIDEO. "We Are Living Through a Defining Moment in Our History". David Babayan Was Live on Air
After resigning from the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh, David Babayan will continue to serve the people and the state.
In a live broadcast on his Facebook page, Babayan expressed gratitude to the people of Artsakh and the community for their heroism displayed over the past two years. He also thanked the entire staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA). "This is one of the most established structures of our republic," Babayan emphasized, recalling that alongside the diplomatic struggle, employees of the MFA actively participated in the 2020 war, suffering losses.
David Babayan congratulated Sergey Ghazaryan on assuming the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh and wished him success.
The former minister briefly summarized the results of two years of work: "It is not quite correct for me to summarize the results myself, but significant work has been done. The public is closely following foreign policy and processes. Every day, I have received numerous people, even passersby, who came to the MFA to inquire about various processes. The authority of the MFA is extremely high in society. Recently, a survey was conducted, and the MFA ranked first in terms of public trust. This is the result of the joint work of all employees. The same goes for the results of the department head's rating survey; this is the highest reward—the trust and love of fellow citizens," Babayan highlighted.
Regarding external and internal adversaries and enemies, Babayan reminded that the MFA and himself are among the most frequently mentioned targets for the external enemy, Azerbaijan. "And this is the best indicator. But there are also internal enemies, those who serve anti-state and anti-national interests. I am ready to name them, but I will not stoop to their level. And these are not just individuals; they are entire organizations. But we are also grateful to them. They have shown that we are working correctly," said Babayan.
"We are living through a defining moment in our history. The year 2023 could be a watershed, and everyone must understand the importance of the moment," he continued.
Babayan declared that the MFA of Artsakh has accomplished enormous work in the diaspora over the past two years, achieving significant results from adopted documents to bilateral relations. "Now the ranking of Artsakh is the highest it has been in recent years, and this is the result of the MFA's work," noted the former minister.
"There is still a chance to save Artsakh. My colleagues and I will continue our mission to preserve Artsakh. I am confident that the road ahead is long and difficult, but there are opportunities. The most important condition for a secure future is self-purification. There have been and will be external enemies, but self-purification is the path to resistance. It is also crucial that the state apparatus functions smoothly. Each of you fulfills your mission; do not think that nothing depends on you. People come and go, but Artsakh will remain. If there is Artsakh, there will be Armenia; if there is no Artsakh, there will be no Armenia either," Babayan emphasized, adding that 2023 could also be a turning point in geopolitics.
Regarding his plans, David Babayan stated that he has several projects: "Regardless of the position, I will serve my homeland," he concluded.
It is noteworthy that before being appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs, David Babayan worked for many years in the MFA and the Office of the President of Artsakh. He heads the Conservative Party of Artsakh.
