The Situation in Artsakh's Pharmacies is Critical: Details
In a conversation with a correspondent from Artsakhpress, Shushan Nazaretyan, a pharmacist at the Gideon Richter pharmacy chain operating in the capital, stated that there is currently a high demand for milk mixtures, children's diapers, and antibiotics. “Liquid antibiotics are needed for children up to 6-7 years old to prevent emerging infectious processes, but there are no liquid antibiotics available at all. There are also no fever-reducing medications for children in the same age group. We have managed to address the issue with alternative medications for one or two weeks, but those have already run out,” our interlocutor presented.
According to her, the network also lacks medications intended for patients with diabetes and insulin injectors. If this situation persists for another week, the pharmacy will be completely empty.
Lilit Barseghyan, a pharmacist at the Li Pharma pharmacy, noted that there is significant demand among citizens for fever-reducing and blood pressure-regulating medications. “The quantity of antibiotics is also severely limited. After the blockade, we received fever reducers intended for children three times, as well as medications for patients with diabetes. We also received a limited quantity of baby food, but that is also running out. We hope to receive replenishments in the coming days, for which we would be very grateful,” said L. Barseghyan, emphasizing that the medications are sold at previous prices.
Eleonora Grigoryan, owner and pharmacist of the Elen pharmacy in Stepanakert, stated that they had never found themselves in such a situation in about 40 years. “The pharmacy is almost empty. Most citizens are in need of essential medications. There have been no price changes. Very often, due to circumstances, we even provide the available medications free of charge to residents,” added our interlocutor.
