Taliban Deny Closure of Beauty Salons in Afghanistan

The leadership of the Taliban movement, which has seized power in Afghanistan, has denied reports that they have decided to close women's beauty salons in the country. This was reported to journalists on Tuesday by Mohammad Suhail Shaheen, head of the Taliban's political office in Doha.

He specifically stated that the news is not true. “This is not correct; the relevant authorities are denying this claim,” he said.

Earlier on Tuesday, Al Arabiya television reported, citing sources, that the Taliban leadership had ordered the closure of women's beauty salons in Afghanistan. According to them, the interim government established by the Taliban has set a ten-day deadline after which the beauty salons should be closed.

In addition, it is suggested that the radicals have banned girls from working in shopping centers. Since coming to power in 2021, the Taliban has imposed restrictions that they believe are in line with Islamic values. Specifically, they have mandated that female television presenters wear hijabs and have banned the screening of dramatic films and programs featuring female actresses.
