New Pension Payment System Causes Headaches: Long Lines at Banks

The newspaper "Jamanak" reports that the new cashless pension payment system has created significant headaches for pensioners. Yesterday, long lines were observed at banks across Armenia as pensioners attempted to obtain cards. It is important to note that many pensioners have yet to select a pension-disbursing organization, which has contributed to the queues, especially in regional banks.

Starting January 1, all pensioners under the age of 75 who reside in villages with a population of over a thousand and do not have a first or second category disability receive their pensions through cashless means using a card. Additionally, there is another issue: pensioners living in remote and border villages do not have the capability to make card transactions or cash their money, which forces them to incur extra expenses to reach the nearest town.

In summary, the implementation of a system meant to facilitate pension payments has turned into a headache for the citizens, as the government led by Nikol Pashinyan has complicated access to pensions and incurred additional costs for the people.

More details in today’s issue of the newspaper.
