Did Artsakh Appeal to Peacekeepers to Use Stepanakert Airport? Babayan Responds

The Acting Foreign Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Davit Babayan, answered a question on Factor TV regarding whether the leadership of Artsakh had appealed to Russian peacekeepers to use the Stepanakert airport for transporting humanitarian cargo from Armenia to Artsakh.

He stated, “Azerbaijan has experience in shooting down Russian helicopters; we remember this from the 44-day war. Turkey also has a wealthier capability to do the same. The operation of the airport is clearly not a technical issue, but a political one. Azerbaijan is evidently trying to create obstacles, not allowing the airport to become operational. The operation of the airport is very important, but this is not a long-term solution; it is essential to open the road.”

According to him, the most crucial factor in getting Artsakh out of the blockade is political pressure, so that the Azerbaijani authorities feel the principles of the international community.
