3000 Prisoners to be Released from Iranian Prisons
The President of Iran's Supreme Court, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei, announced on Monday that 3000 inmates, including imprisoned protesters, will be released.
His remarks were quoted by Mehr news agency, as reported by TASS. “I thank my fellow judges who provided the necessary justification for the release of nearly 3000 individuals in prisons across the country in a short time,” the Supreme Court President stated during a session of the Supreme Judicial Council.
According to him, among those to be released are activists involved in the recent unrest who “regret their actions and will be freed.”
On December 28, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi accused the United States and Western nations of inciting anti-government protests in Iran by spreading false news and disinformation. He stated that “the enemies of the Islamic Revolution failed to achieve their goals and divide the Iranian people.”
