Ukraine Terminates Agreement with Russia on Use and Protection of Water Bodies at the Border

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has terminated the agreement with the Russian government regarding the joint use and protection of transboundary water bodies. This decision was made at a meeting held on Friday, stated Taras Melnychuk, government representative in the Supreme Rada.

According to him, the agreement on the joint use and protection of transboundary water bodies between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, which was signed on October 19, 1992, in Kyiv, has been terminated, he wrote on his Telegram channel.

During the meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers also approved a draft law on withdrawing from the CIS agreement on coordinated policy regarding transport tariffs, signed on January 17, 1997, in Moscow. Melnychuk noted that due to damage inflicted on transport infrastructure, Ukraine cannot guarantee the safety of goods, including transit shipments.

Ukrainian authorities regularly announce their withdrawal from agreements with Russia and Belarus, as well as those concluded within the CIS framework.
