Video: Minister Minasian Comments on Criminal Case Against His Father

RA Minister of Justice Grigor Minasian commented on the criminal prosecution against his father, Ara Minasian, who is the former Armenian ambassador to the Vatican. During a press briefing after a government meeting, Grigor Minasian mentioned that even a professional worker can find themselves in such a situation.

“I have worked as a lawyer for 10 years, and even in small countries, you can somehow find yourself at the center of a conflict of interest. A professional worker can continuously find themselves in such situations, but one must act in a way that they do not fall into it. This means you should operate within the parameters of the law and never exceed the powers entrusted to you,” Minasian stated.

Regarding questions about the case and his father's guilt or innocence, the Minister of Justice refrained from commenting, stating that these are personal matters. “I work as the Minister of Justice, and I have also worked as a deputy minister within the legal powers granted. Emotions should not interfere with one's work. It does not matter if you are a doctor, a lawyer, or a journalist,” Minasian emphasized.

It is noteworthy that a new criminal prosecution has been initiated against Ara Minasian. New evidence has emerged suggesting that during his tenure as the director of the St. Grigor Lusavorich Medical Center, he, in collaboration with the chief accountant of the same medical center, a procurement coordinator, and the director and representative of a company supplying hemodialysis equipment, discriminated against potential competitors in purchasing processes. From 2014 to 2018, he allegedly embezzled approximately 416 million drams using his official position with a unified intent.
