Saakashvili's Death in Prison Could End Georgia's European Prospects

Ambassadors from EU member countries have warned Georgian authorities about the situation surrounding the third president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, who is currently imprisoned, as reported by aliq.ge and Accent.ge.

According to the information, during a meeting with Georgia's Minister of Justice Rati Bregadze, heads of European diplomatic missions called on the ruling 'Georgian Dream' party government to prevent violations of Saakashvili's rights in prison, emphasizing that the third president's death could put an end to Georgia's European prospects.

Ambassadors from Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, France, and Italy visited the Ministry of Justice. Journalists were not allowed to participate in the talks that lasted several hours.

Later, Germany's Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, stated that diplomats from 15 EU member countries and representatives from the USA attended the meeting at the Ministry of Justice.
