Georgian President Avoids Answering Whether She Will Grant Clemency to Saakashvili
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili has avoided answering whether she will grant clemency to former President Mikheil Saakashvili.
Earlier, a rally was held at her residence demanding that no clemency be granted to Saakashvili, who is currently imprisoned. Zurabishvili has repeatedly stated that she will never grant clemency to Saakashvili.
The former president is undergoing treatment at one of Tbilisi’s clinics due to health complications resulting from a prolonged hunger strike.
“The answer to the main question will be given when it is given,” Zurabishvili stated during a press briefing in response to reporters' inquiries. She also criticized the actions of some rally participants near her residence, noting that many were attempting to pressure the president. Zurabishvili announced that some protesters tried to breach her residence.
