Baku Wants Issues Related to New EU Mission in Armenia to Be Coordinated with Azerbaijan
Baku has stated that issues regarding the deployment of a new European Union mission to Armenia should be coordinated with Azerbaijan. This was announced by the head of Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, Jeyhun Bayramov.
He noted that a new mission is currently being formed.
“Currently, EU experts are planning an assessment to determine what the upcoming mission will focus on and its scope. This mission will be located in Armenian territory, but we believe that related issues should be coordinated with Azerbaijan,” he said.
According to him, since the mission will operate towards the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, its activities “touch upon Baku’s interests.” “Therefore, we have openly stated to the EU that our expectation is that there should be an exchange of ideas, and this issue should be coordinated with us,” he added.
He also stated that the Azerbaijani side has not yet received any document or report regarding the results of the EU civilian mission's work at the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, which concluded its activities on December 19.
