Turkey Discovers Another 58 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas in the Black Sea, Says Erdogan

Turkey has discovered an additional 58 billion cubic meters of gas in its sector of the Black Sea. This was announced by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a message to his nation.

“Our drilling ship 'Fatih' has discovered 58 billion cubic meters of natural gas reserves at a depth of 3223 meters underwater,” he stated.

“This is a modest amount; several years ago, 450 billion cubic meters of reserves were found, but the production level in the first phase will be very modest,” said Alexey Grivach, Deputy Director General of the National Energy Security Fund, in an interview with Radio Sputnik. “The new reserves are simply a small addition to the initial discovery. However, for Turkey, any reserve is beneficial, as they practically had no domestic production.”
