Erdogan: 'They Ruined His Psychology and Took Away His Energy' Regarding Ronaldo

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Argentinian Lionel Messi and Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo cannot be compared. He also mentioned that Ronaldo faced a 'political blockade' during the World Cup, according to Turkish news reports.

'They wasted Ronaldo. Unfortunately, they imposed a political blockade on him. Sending a player like Ronaldo onto the field with only 30 minutes left in the game ruined his psychology and drained his energy,' Erdogan said during a meeting with youth in Erzurum.

'Ronaldo is someone who advocates for the Palestinian cause,' he added. The 37-year-old footballer came on as a substitute in the second half of the World Cup quarter-final match against Morocco, where Portugal lost 1-0. Ronaldo, the only player to have scored in five World Cups, experienced great sorrow as he was eliminated from his final World Cup and was unable to hold back his tears.
