Who Will Replace Zhanna Andreasyan?

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports. "Following the appointment of Zhanna Andreasyan as Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, the position of Deputy Minister overseeing the general education block has become vacant. Now, the employees of that block are holding their breath, waiting to see who will be appointed there.

There are rumors circulating in the system that one of the candidates is Lilith Stepanyan, a member of the ruling Civil Contract party and a resident of Hrazdan, who was brought into politics and the National Assembly by Sasun Mikayelyan. Before becoming a member of parliament in 2018, she served as the Deputy Governor of Kotayk. However, she aligned herself with the team of the former Minister of Education and the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, Araik Harutyunyan, in the parliament. It is evident that she strongly desires to move to the executive branch; her name is regularly mentioned for various educational positions. Harutyunyan is lobbying for her candidacy.

Stepanyan responded to our inquiry, saying, “To be honest, when there was a change in minister, various people called and congratulated me, saying that they heard my name mentioned as a potential Deputy Minister, etc. But this is not something to hide or boast about; no one has made me any proposals.” When asked who had congratulated her, the parliamentarian did not specify—just “many.” And what were they congratulating her for? “Probably, considering my previous place of work, my activity in the education sector, I have presented the most proposals and projects related to various strategic educational documents and decisions.”

She stated that she would discuss the proposal when received, meaning she would agree. It is worth noting that from 2007 to 2010, she worked as a history specialist at the Kotayk branch of the National Institute of Education, and from 2013 to 2014, she was a teacher at Hrazdan Secondary School No. 13.”
