US Presidential Advisor Calls for Armenia and Azerbaijan to Ease Tensions

The National Security Advisor of the United States, Jake Sullivan, held phone conversations on Thursday with his counterparts from Armenia and Azerbaijan, urging them to consider steps that would lead to a de-escalation of tensions between the two countries. This was stated in a message released by the White House.

Sullivan had previously spoken with Armenia's Secretary of the Security Council, Armen Grigoryan, and Hikmet Hajiyev, an aide to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

“Sullivan emphasized our concerns regarding the difficulties of access to the Lachin corridor, as well as the worsening humanitarian situation, and called for the restoration of free movement through the corridor,” the statement said.
