Mbappé Becomes the World's Most Expensive Player
French and PSG forward Kylian Mbappé has become the world's most expensive player following the conclusion of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, according to Transfermarkt. The portal updated the transfer values of players after the World Cup 2022 finale. Mbappé took the lead as the most valuable player with a transfer value increase of €20 million, rising from €160 million to €180 million. He has surpassed Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland.
The transfer value of Argentina and Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernández has also increased by €20 million, from €35 million to €55 million.
Manchester City forward Julián Álvarez has boosted his transfer value by €18 million, now estimated at €50 million. Josko Gvardiol (valued at €75 million, Croatia, RB Leipzig), Cody Gakpo (valued at €60 million, Netherlands, PSV), and Sofyan Amrabat (valued at €25 million, Morocco, Fiorentina) all saw their transfer values increase by €15 million each. Gvardiol has now become the world's most expensive defender.
English players Jude Bellingham (valued at €110 million, Borussia Dortmund) and Bukayo Saka (valued at €100 million, Arsenal) also saw their transfer values rise by €10 million each.
