Lavrov: Unfounded Accusations Against Russian Peacekeepers
“The constant accusations and reproaches against Russian peacekeepers coming from various sources are unfounded,” stated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a press conference following a meeting in Moscow with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
“We all should probably proceed from the understanding that the situation is multifaceted, and it is necessary to take into account the public opinions of all involved parties – of course, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh, and Russia. The public opinion on the Russian side is also important, especially since various sources, without specifying which ones, are continually and largely making unfounded accusations against Russian peacekeepers who operate in complex conditions. This includes claims from various parties, including the need for strict adherence to the provisions enshrined in the trilateral agreements,” added Lavrov.
