"My energy is running out, so this may be my last image I send. But don’t worry about me: I’m okay and have had a very productive and quiet time here. If I can continue to communicate with my team, I will reach out again soon. Thank you for staying with me," this message was posted on December 19 from the Twiiter account of the InSight spacecraft, which is currently on the surface of Mars.

On the same day, NASA announced that the Mars lander had ceased communication. NASA had long warned that the device launched to the Red Planet in 2018 might soon stop functioning. The reason was Martian dust, which has formed a thick layer covering the solar panels, preventing the device from fully recharging its energy reserves.
