Argentinian Football Association Apologizes to Fans
The Argentinian Football Association has apologized to fans for not completing the national team's victory parade and for canceling a meeting with supporters in downtown Buenos Aires, opting instead to leave via helicopter. "We were not allowed to greet everyone. The security forces prevented us from moving forward. On behalf of all the players, I sincerely apologize. We are very sorry," wrote Claudio Tapia, the president of the Argentinian Football Association, on Twitter.
Lionel Messi and Ángel Di María left Buenos Aires for their hometown of Rosario. More than four million people turned out in the streets of Buenos Aires to welcome the world champions.
